Mobile app for your customers

Customer-facing apps that make booking, buying and staying in touch effortless.

Your customers live on their phones. A customer app keeps your business one tap away — for booking, ordering, loyalty, updates and more — giving you a direct line that email and websites can't match.

Where AI sometimes fits in a customer app

Recommending things people might want, helping someone find a past order without searching, and answering 'where is my order' at midnight when you're closed. All three are real time-savers. None of them is a reason to build the app — the app needs to earn its place on its own, first.

Will people actually download it?

This is the question that decides whether a customer app is worth doing, and it deserves a straight answer. People download an app when there's a reason to keep opening it. If it's just a way to buy from you, most will use your website instead, and you'll have paid to build something they ignore.

It has to earn the install

A customer app is worth building when it does something the website genuinely can't: your loyalty scheme, saved preferences and orders in one place, early access, or something your customers would genuinely miss. Those are strong reasons. A discount code is a weak one, and it won't retain anyone.

Onboarding decides retention

The first thirty seconds matter more than anything else. If signing up, finding an order and getting what they came for takes more than that, they'll leave and not come back. We design the shortest possible path to the thing they opened the app for, and let the rest come later.

Push notifications, used carefully

Push is powerful and easy to abuse. One or two useful messages a month outperforms a weekly newsletter from a shop most people have muted. We'll set it up so people can choose what they hear about, which keeps the ones who do want it.

Not an excuse to neglect the website

A lot of your customers will never install anything. The app is an addition to a good website, not a replacement — and we'll tell you if what you actually need is to make the website better, which would cost far less and reach more people.

Common questions

How many customers do I need to make an app worth it?
Fewer than you'd think, provided there's a real reason to open it. If it's a genuine habit or a genuinely useful account, a few hundred regular customers can justify it. If it isn't, a better website will serve more people for a fraction of the cost.
How do people find it in the store?
We name and describe it for the search terms your customers use, and — more usefully — make sure your website links to it. A good proportion of app installs come from a link on your own site rather than the store search.
Does it need app store approval?
Yes, and there's a review process with real turnaround times. We build to the current guidelines from the start and submit for you, and we'll plan the timeline around the review rather than pretending it's instant.
What does it cost to keep running?
There's some unavoidable ongoing work as the operating systems change. We'll set that out before you commit, and the app is yours rather than something that only exists through us.
Should I still have a website?
Definitely, and it should be good. If your website is the weak link, fixing that will reach more people than any app you build. We'd rather point that out than take the work.
